In this essay, I will investigate my views on thinking long versus short.

I’m thinking about this topic at this point in my life because I was recently inspired by a friend to take up long-form essay writing, after years of short-form note taking, and quickly noticed a drop in anxiety and increase in emotional stability plus heightened hope for the future.

In particular, I’ve had a hunch that the short-form note taking essentially conditions my brain to expect abrupt changes needing concern, as expressed in the form of anxiety, while taking the long and deep view while writing essays conversely de-conditions my brain to expect it’s able to handle abrupt changes if they were to happen, while at the same happen diminishes the expectations that such events happen frequently, which might also open up a lot of my mental energy to secure my safety.
